I was deeply affected by the recent tragedy up in Newtown, CT. I grew up in the small town of New Fairfield, Ct and have many friends and family still living up there. Many that I know were personally affected by this tragedy. I have 3 beautiful kids ages, 20, 10, and 7 and this is heartbreaking for me as I don’t know what I would do if this happened to my family. I take thousands of photos every year and treasure all those memories. I read about what other photographers were doing in light of this incident and I want to ‘give back’ as well. Please read this post, share with everyone, and send in your nominations, so that one lucky family will receive a absolutely free photo session with all their images on a CD/DVD and print release so they can print them as they wish.
Thanks to all my wonderful clients! Merry Christmas and Happy 2012!
The Olivia Act named after one of the children killed in Newtown, was started by a photographer who wishes to be anonymous. Olivia’s family had family pictures taken a short time before she was killed. Those pictures are precious and now priceless to them. Upon hearing this, this photographer was moved to give away a 30 minute family photo shoot and has challenged other photographers to do the same. We go about our daily lives and sometimes we don’t take the time or have the resources to have family photos taken.
I will be taking nominations for a family who you think would appreciate this gift of memories. The session will take place sometime after the new year and will be completely FREE to the family being nominated. Please email me (email@example.com) with your nominations subject titled “Olivia Act” and include a brief message on who you’re nominating and the reason you’d love them to get this. The family chosen will be contacted via email, so please include their email address as well! I’ll be taking nominations anytime between now (December 19th) and December 31st. The family chosen will get a free 30 minute session and a CD of pictures so that they are able to print as many images as they like. Please SHARE this status so your friends and family will know too! I can’t wait to gift a family with these memories that can’t be replaced or taken away!
And fellow photographers, please think about participating in the Olivia act too. ♥

It was then I knew I wanted to give back to the community. Just yesterday we lost our other dog, Gabby, and I am truly lucky to have all the precious memories of them that I have. Photos are memories that you will have forever. I am offering the session and an 8×10 free of charge to families going through the loss of a pet. I feel this is my way to honor my beautiful, sweet, furbabies!
